What online homeschool curriculum provides math instruction for Kindergarten to calculus? Check out this review to see if CTCMath is right for your family!

Are you trying to figure out what math curriculum to use in your homeschool this year? Maybe you’re new to homeschooling and are sifting through the many options. Maybe the math curriculum you used last year was a really bad fit for your kids, and you’re trying to figure out how to transition from one math curriculum to another. Or maybe you’re just SO TIRED of the never-ending pile of grading and the hours of oversight necessary to homeschool math for multiple children at many different grade levels.

Homeschooling math does not have to make kids (or their Mama) cry.

So when CTCMath offered to sponsor a review video for my audience, I was delighted to see that they have created an option for a thorough homeschool math program that is easy to use for Mom and students alike.

I received a product for free, and was compensated for my time. All opinions are honest and my own; I was not required to write a positive review. Please see disclaimer.

If you’re not exactly sure where to place your student, have them start with a placement test for each topic. When a student completes the test, you will get a report detailing any lessons which may need to be reviewed.

Because you have access to every math level at once, your child doesn’t have to retake an entire grade if they have a few gaps in their understanding. They can review those topics, and then move forward into the next grade level.

On the other hand, if you have a child who just loves math and is breezing through their work, they will be able to continue on to the next grade level midyear without you having to purchase a new math curriculum!

Once you’ve set up your student’s account, you have the option to go in and personalize their weekly assignments and due dates.

Each lesson begins with a video tutorial. Each of the 1,400+ CTCMath tutorials are short and to the point, lasting around 4-9 minutes, and present the concepts of each math lesson step-by-step. Because it combines audio and simple animation, it helps students utilize both auditory and visual learning styles.

Another benefit of a video tutorial is that your child can stop and rewind the video as many times as necessary without the teacher getting frustrated. And because the lessons are broken into such short, bite-sized chunks, it helps a child keep their attention on their work.

After your student has watched the video, they will complete a series of interactive questions. If you or your student prefers, these worksheets can also be printed off and done by hand. The interactive questions help students actually apply the math concepts they have learned, solidifying the material in their mind.

After the student completes their worksheets, printable, fully-worked solutions become available showing every step which should be taken to reach the correct answer. After all, we don’t want our students merely regurgitating correct answers; we want to make sure they know how and why a math problem works!

As your student works through the material, ongoing progress reports are built. This helps both you as the parent (and the students themselves) identify areas that need a bit more work. Every math lesson a student attempts is logged and the results are stored. You will not only be able to see when they passed and what they scored, but also how much time and effort they put in to pass that lesson. You’ll be able to instantly see the areas where your children may need additional help.

If you’re overloaded and are looking for a way to simplify your homeschool math routine without losing quality of instruction, give CTCMath a try!
